What Are Your Distractions that have kept you from your New Year’s Resolutions for 2012/Your Dreams?
My coach shared that his dog is so easily distracted that the canine can’t remain focused on any one thing for a long period of time, except when it comes to eating. His dog won’t let anything distract him while he’s eating, even if you take his bowl of food away, cause the dog knows that you’ve hidden it, and you will have to give it back to him. Often times, we have life’s distractions preventing us from getting something done, because things get in the way. However when we are seriously focused on something we want, can’t no distraction get in our way (i.e: work for pay to do something, a favorite something on T.V, an event, etc). A distraction isn’t something that necessarily has importance, but it can keep us from our goal.
So what can we do to avoid distractions? Take an active role in making sure that that doesn’t happen. Put up barriers to distractions. Get a calendar that has an appointment book and set a date with your goals. Action Day products is one of the best planners, with goal setting in mind, that I’ve come across in a long while. Put your goal in front of your so that you can execute what you need to do. Even if it means posting sticky notes around where you live to make sure you get something accomplished for a time frame in the day, the day itself, or the week.
Keep in mind, that the goal is to make sure that the target is not to let anything be a barrier from your goal. Decide what your values are, how important your goals are, and what are you going to focus on.
To your success!
